Thinking Laterally at SES New York

I’m spending a few days at Search Engine Strategies here in New York. It’s my 4th year, and although this side of the US is quite close to Europe, there definitely are some things to learn from our American cousins.

One tip came in a session I wrote up on how to think about integrated marketing and search.

When we want to find out the telephone number of shop, locate a store, or look for directions, we’ll invariably search for the company’s website and the navigate to the contact us or store locater page.

While people are on that page looking for information about how to reach you in the offline world, why not take the opportunity to hit them with an ad or offer to engage them online as well.

They may not be aware you have a compelling online experience, so why not give them some info that might help engage them a little deeper.

Simple! But if done the right way could be very effective.
